Q & A of the Day – Will a voltage optimisation unit work with renewable energy?

This Q & A is one of thousands posted in our Technical Expertise area, and answered on a daily basis by our Voltimum Experts.

Question: Will voltage optimisation units work with alternative or renewable energy sources, such as solar PV and wind turbine/generators?

Answer: Voltage optimisation systems can be installed alongside other alternative energy source installations. The Voltis Home system from Marshall-Tufflex can operate in tandem with alternative energy sources and the VO unit must be located upstream of the consumer unit, but downstream of the solar PV system or alternative energy source.

This configuration allows the consumer unit to draw through the VO unit only that energy the property requires. It also allows the additional electricity produced to journey back through the meters and on to the national grid network.
