The JIB has set up a new company – JIB Mediation Services – for any employers and employees who are not covered by the JIB National Working Rules.
The JIB has operated a mediation service to resolve individual and collective disputes in the electrical contracting industry since 1968. Our service has an enviable success rate around 90%.
We now provide a mediation service to employers outside our industry, using a team of highly experienced professional mediators, who have all successfully resolved thousands of people problems during their careers. The service is available throughout the United Kingdom.
Our aim is to provide you with a simple and effective process to resolve your problem. We will discuss the problem with you and appoint a mediator at an agreed fee. Our mediators are provided at a very competitive day rate, plus expenses. In almost every case only one day will be required to achieve a successful outcome.
“Mediation is a process where an independent person works with an employer and an individual employee, or group or employees, who are having some form of disagreement or problem in the workplace,” explained Jerry Gibson, one of the professional mediators at JIB Mediation Services.
“A mediator is not there to decide who’s right and wrong, but to work with both sides to come to a positive solution for moving forward. It’s a confidential and voluntary process; it’s less stressful than using formal procedures or the courts, and it’s very good early in a problem situation to make sure things are kept on track and that the employment relationship continues or can be ended amicably.”
