Consumer unit: advice wanted on cable replacement and EICR code

Hi,

A property built in the late 1970's (14th edition regs) has had its consumer unit replaced around 2012 (17th edition regs) – 100amp rec cut-out with 60amp fuse fitted.

The 16mm cable tails appear to have been replaced (possibly slightly longer due to its new location) but the "earthing lead" as it was called in 1970's - now called earthing conductor - wasn't. It is terminated at both consumer unit and rec cut-out. This cable is 6mm – new regs state 1/2 size of conductors should be used, ie 10mm. Does this need to be replaced? And what EICR code would it be given on a test inspection?

My question is, do you need to change the cable tails & earthing when doing a straight consumer unit swap?
