UKTC offers Public Sector marketplace chances at no cost
The UK Trades Confederation (UKTC), one of the UK's leading trade associations, is offering thousands of members the opportunity to enter into the Public Sector marketplace at Bronze level at no cost as part of its membership package. This new membership drive has been pioneered in conjunction with Exor Management Services, a Government approved accreditation body, to remove the red tape that stands between SMEs and the £140bn supplier contracts available within the Public Sector market each year.

The UKTC has aligned its membership vetting procedure to a standard equivalent to the first level of accreditation so that members automatically qualify for Bronze level entry into the Public Sector marketplace. This means UKTC members can gain visibility within their Local Authority by promoting their specialist skills and have the opportunity to quote for supplier contracts. The UKTC is also giving its members a free website and email facilities to comply with the Government's new e -procurement initiative which requires suppliers to be able to trade electronically.

Derek Vaughan, MD of The UKTC commented: "Incorporating the accreditation process as part of the UKTC's membership package prepares our members to move into the Public Sector marketplace. It seemed pointless for our members to go through the vetting procedure all over again to become accredited, therefore forming this unique alliance with Exor Management Services means it will save time and further costs to the SME".

Accreditation to Bronze level means UKTC members will be able to progress quickly up the scale to a higher level to trade effectively with the Public Sector Market. The UKTC will assist this procedure by providing references already obtained from members as part of their initial membership assessment.

About Exor Management Services:

Exor Management Services is an established Accreditation Body providing Supplier and Contractor Accreditation Services for more than 10% of Public Sector Authorities (PSAs) in the UK. Exor is the only Accreditation Body providing a world-class capability across all categories of public spending and all types of supplier, from Sole Traders through to FTSE 100 Companies.

Many members of the Public Sector are now using Exor Management Services Supplier Accreditation service as a fundamental component of their procurement strategies in order to achieve Best Value Audit goals, assist in Urban Regeneration, support Inward Investment schemes and lay the foundations for 2005 e-Government initiatives such as the NePP project. Developing and maintaining categorised lists of approved suppliers historically absorbed significant amounts of staff time and effort. Exor's service frees staff to focus on the core Procurement issues removing the pre-qualification component of supplier selection. Exor can perform these functions extremely efficiently because of its innovative technology, processes and focus on this sole activity. Go to www.exorgroup.co.uk.
