Question: I have been working recently in a nursing home with a central battery system having slave luminaires. This system is doubled up as a night light system controlled by a time clock to switch off the lights during the day. If the time clock fails during the day, then the lights will not operate during a emergency. Does this comply with current standards?
Answer: We suggest that you find out the standard(s) relating to this particular application, which you need to comply with, as I don't think this arrangement is suitable for any application. Emergency fittings need to work correctly at all times for safety reasons.
