‘LumExpress’ (pronounced lōō'-m-express) is Thorn’s service programme for the distribution of popular luminaires through wholesalers. It draws the company closer to its distributor and electrical contractor customers, involving them in offering a better, faster service.
Thorn’s current European product portfolio features tens of thousands of items that, perhaps unreasonably, customers often expect to find always at hand. This is, of course, impossible. So following research across Europe to identify the lighting products most critical to the electrical contractor the company has come up with some 20-product families which installers can reasonably expect to find in wholesalers’ stock. They include recessed and surface luminaires, waterproof and industrial units, emergency lighting, downlights, outdoor lighting and a broad range of T5 fluorescent products for all commercial and industrial applications.
Thanks to Thorn’s wholesaler distributorship policies these LumExpress stock products are held by hundreds of distributors across Europe, supported and replenished from Thorn’s re-worked and SAP based logistics operation.
Products are distinctively packaged to give strong visual appeal at trade counter level. Indeed the bright red and white boxes have already become instantly recognised as the colour combination which customers will see as synonymous with the range.
