SELECT is holding HNC courses in contracting management by distance learning:
During the past year, the course structure has been further developed from various inputs to cater for the needs of other contracting industries and related organisations as well as electrical contracting. At the same time the distance learning option has been introduced.
With these developments, the course will now have a wider appeal and make a more significant contribution towards management training within the contracting industry.
The course content:
The syllabus content is both broad and relevant to the needs of the industry and is orientated to the practical application of knowledge, so providing tangible benefits to the employer. It enables participants preparing for a career in junior and middle management to widen their development through a structured programme that addresses the specific needs of the contracting industries. It is, therefore, an industry-centred qualification. The course provides participants with the knowledge, concepts, techniques and skills that will enable them to effectively fulfil their existing and future managerial responsibilities.
The course, which is sponsored by MEM Ltd, has been designed with minimal time away from work, yet meeting the conditions of contract hours by the Scottish Qualification Authority (formerly SCOTVEC) validating body. This has been achieved by a comprehensive study programme of afternoon/evening attendance once every two weeks, a residential weekend period each year and additional course work undertaken outside normal working hours.
