Q & A of the Day - Local Authority HMO requirements
Question: I have just begun to get a number of calls from landlords with HMO properties which require fire alarm periodic test/servicing certificates for domestic fire alarm systems.

Apparently, these landlords have just received requests by the local authority for certificates but cannot, when pressed, state exactly what they want. Does anyone produce a certificate particularly designed to reflect the servicing and condition of a domestic system complying with BS 5839-Part6 2004? The usual servicing certificates that I use obviously refer to BS 5839-Part 1 2002.

Answer: BS 5839 Pt 6:2004 has model forms in Annex F only for the design, installation and commissioning of the fire detection system.
