When West Yorkshire developer Lanson Developments was looking for a means to differentiate the Equilbrium Complex from its competitors' properties, it chose Active Technology Systems Ltd, one of the country's biggest installers of home control systems, to install Square D's IHC and LexCom systems in all 123 of the apartments, from 1 bedroom flats to luxury penthouses.

Darren Broadbent, MD of Active Technology Systems, said, "IHC and LexCom offer excellent integrated control of entertainment systems and utilities respectively. There are no gimmicks with these systems. They are designed for all sorts of homes and everyday living, appealing to prospective buyers with both visible functionality and aspirational lifestyle benefits."

Change moods - save energy:

With IHC, users can change lighting moods or turn off all lights and sockets in the entire home, with the touch of a single button. Lights can even be set to 'Holiday Mode', creating the illusion that the apartment is occupied, whilst the owner is away.

IHC also integrates security features, such as passive infrared (PIR) and door sensors, with lighting control, to automatically illuminate the home upon alarm activation, as an additional deterrent to triggering audible alarms. The system can even be fitted with leak sensors, to detect water or gas leaks and shut off supplies!

LexCom distributes TV, video, DVD, computer data, telephone and broadband to standard connection points throughout the home. Upgrades, such as home cinema systems, are also available. Sharing the entertainment sources around the home, for example satellite channels from the lounge can be viewed and controlled from a TV in the bedroom, gives homes a tangible 'wow' factor.

Richard Brown, sales and marketing manager of Lanson Developments, commented, "we deliver aspirational homes, with high-spec fittings and décor, but often this is not enough in today's cut throat marketplace. But, the Square D systems installed by Active Technology Systems offer a real hook to lure potential buyers."
