Question: Because of the new smoke alarm legislation, I’ve been asked to install a system in a two-bedroom rented flat. The flat has recently decorated at great expense the landlord does not want mini trunking all over the ceiling supplying mains alarms.
I suggested 10-year battery life wireless linked smoke and heat alarms.
I found legislation for England, which states that for private rented accommodation, the landlord can choose to use long life battery alarms - provided they are regularly maintained.
I cannot find any Scottish legislation that covers this. Could you please tell me whether, for private rented accommodation - is it acceptable to install 10-year battery life wireless linked smoke and heat alarms in Scotland?
