Question: This may be an easy question to answer, but I need some assistance. I am about to install new lighting circuits in a domestic dwelling. Some points will be straight into a ceiling rose, but some rooms are having downlights fitted. As there is no space in the terminal to loop to the next room, I have a switch line, and supply the other lights in the room.
Am I required to use a ceiling rose and put it above the ceiling, or can I use a junction box in place?
Answer: You can use either a suitable 'choc-box' or J201 type junction box. Both of these enclosures can be entered through the cut-out hole for the downlighter and are, therefore, accessible.
Alternatively, it is permitted to connect loop in/outs using the light switch as an enclosure.
