Question: Is there a recommendation or regulation that requires isolation safety matting to be installed placed in front of high voltage (HV) and low voltage (LV) electrical distribution panels for the occasions when regular maintenance and/or cable installation is being carried out on a live panel?
Answer: Generally, rubber matting in front of distribution boards and control panels is not a regulatory requirement.
However, you will often find it specified by designers on some projects.
Rubber matting is indeed one protective measure used where live working is a necessity.
