UK’s largest cable manufacturer, will officially launch its brand new easy-to-install lightweight range of low voltage link disconnecting boxes at Cablex 2017 on the 7th June.
The new technology will greatly reduce time spent on replacing older, heavy units that are coming to the end of their life cycle. The technology facilitates ease of installation and operation by removing the heavy cast-iron bell lids and replacing them with lightweight materials. Unlike alternative products, the new link boxes are designed to be easily repaired with interchangeable modular components that have the added benefit of connecting to auxiliary equipment.
“Our new link box technology range has been developed as a direct result of discussions with utility engineers to solve problems that have been encountered as the electrical distribution network has evolved to meet the challenges of the 21st century. The new link box design offers user friendly functionality that facilitates the use of smart technology to enhance the usefulness of the link boxes within the distribution network,” comments Dr Darren Spiller, Business Manager Components, Prysmian Group.
“The new technologies enable maintenance teams and operators to simply repair link boxes with relative ease, rather than replace heavy cast-iron units at an increased cost to the provider. Our link boxes will revolutionise the way distribution network operators and independent distribution network operators go about their business.
“Our link boxes all feature the ability to increase height and volume with additional chamber walls to hold auxiliary equipment and can be supplied with, or without, a full set of solid links in a storage box.
“Furthermore, as leaders in the cable industry for many years, we ensure that all of our products are tested to the relevant British Standard. We will be showcasing the new design in the form of a 4 way tailed link box at the upcoming Cablex event 7th June and are looking forward to presenting the benefits of this truly innovative system.”
The new range will initially include:
- 924T3 Series Low Voltage 4 Way Underground Tailed Link Disconnecting Box
- 922T3 Series Low Voltage 2 Way Underground Tailed Link Disconnecting Box
- 924PC Series Low Voltage 4 Way Underground Pre-Cast Link Disconnecting Box
- 922PC Series Low Voltage 2 Way Underground Pre-Cast Link Disconnecting Box
