Pan-industry energy performance initiative

Published: 14 October 2003 Category: News

Mitsubishi Electric has launched a pan-industry energy performance initiative at the recent Building Performance show - 'MELSMART is WELL SMART':

Mitsubishi Electric has long been established in the building industry as a provider of quality and scalable air conditioning solutions, revolutionary escalators and building management systems. Three of Mitsubishi's UK divisions combined the company’s stand at the Building Performance event to demonstrate the breadth of capability they can collectively offer under the MELSMART initiative for Enhanced Building Performance.

The demonstration tied in with the theme of the event which was to help construction clients as well as occupiers and end users to reduce the running costs of property and increase its performance and value. Furthermore, Mitsubishi presented a free seminar at the event, called 'Saving energy without costing the earth'.

Three divisions:

The three divisions of Air Conditioning Systems, Automation Systems and Visual Information Systems have created MELSMART for Building Performance as a way of encompassing technology, design and implementation with a network of partners in each field. They are also joined by Mitsubishi's Energy Saving initiative, The MELSMART Energy Centre with a mission to accelerate the adoption of energy efficiency measures such as motor speed control, low energy lighting and intelligent computer control.

A large reduction in power consumption:

One of the main features of Mitsubishi's MELSMART Building Performance stand was the new Mr. Slim R410A power inverter packaged air conditioning system. This is able to provide a large reduction in power consumption (up to 70%), resulting in one of the highest efficiency (COP) ratings in the industry, helping to lower overall running costs and optimise performance. Also on the stand was the G50 controller which can be used to control up to 50 air conditioning units using standard Internet technology from a PC. Further development combines this technology with a Mitsubishi Q Series PLC.

Mitsubishi's Visual Information Systems Division showed off its latest audio-visual solutions, including data/video projectors, as well as its state of the art slimline display panels. Also on display was the latest pioneering addition to the Mitsubishi range of digital security solutions, which can manage the security requirements for a variety of modern businesses.
