Q & A of the Day – What is the required frequency for periodic testing a garage workshop’s electrical installation?

This Q & A is one of thousands posted in our Technical Expertise area, and answered on a daily basis by our Voltimum Experts.

Question: Can you please tell me the required frequency for periodic testing on a garage workshop’s electrical installation?

Answer:  It is down to the person concerned to offer a maximum period before the next inspection.

This could be influenced by the frequency of maintenance and the period since the last periodic report was carried out. It is also influenced by the extent to which the workshop is being used and the external influences that may be on it.

It is recommended, however, that the period of testing does not exceed five years.
