Q & A of the Day – What does ‘earthing conductor’ mean?
Question: Regulation 559.10.3.4 uses the words 'earthing conductor'. As you know, definitions in BS7671 states the meaning of the words 'earthing conductor'. With respect to Regulation 559.10.3.4 and street lighting, why is this wording used?

Answer: The Regulation is referring to the sizing of the protective conductor from the main earthing terminal to the means of earthing where the load has its own distributors service head. The CPC would be as part of any final circuit (or distribution circuit) and be sized in accordance with 543.1.1.
