NICEIC supports tutors with 17th Edition Pack

Published: 26 November 2007 Category: Technical articles

NICEIC, the UK's voluntary regulatory body for the electrical contracting industry, has launched a Training and Learner Pack. Endorsed by City & Guilds, this will assist college tutors and lecturers with the 17th Edition of the Wiring Regulations.

Preparing for the new Regulations, due to be published in January 2008, poses several challenges for colleges and training centres. For instance, all tutors delivering City & Guilds 17th Edition courses will need a sound working knowledge and understanding of the new requirements.

Moreover, all course materials will need to be updated before the end of 2007 to ensure that they can be presented to students from January 2008. As there are several significant changes and a restructuring of the standard, this will be an arduous task for tutors.

To help address these challenges and make life easier for them, NICEIC has worked with City and Guilds to prepare the cost effective 17th Edition Training and Learner Materials Pack. It will include:

• Structured, flexible and modularised lesson plans.
• Interactive PowerPoint slides (including relevant video clips and colour graphics).
• Learner Guides (a comprehensive colour booklet for delegates to use).
• A copy of the standard BS7671:2008.
• NICEIC's 17th Edition DVD.
• City & Guilds Exam Success book.
• An electronic copy of NICEIC Technical Manual.
• Useful Pocket Guides.

The NICEIC is also be running a series of one-day seminars across the UK to help tutors understand what the potential requirements of BS7671:2008 are, before it is published in January.
