Dimplex has launched a new compact 500W version of its innovative Quantum off-peak heater, ideal for retrofit projects where smaller sized storage heaters are being replaced.

The new Dimplex Quantum QM050 boasts all the benefits of the existing Quantum heaters, including controllable heat precisely matched to the user’s lifestyle and an easy to use electronic control. Measuring just 580mm wide, it brings the range of Quantum heaters to five – offering heat outputs from 500W to 1.5kW.
Dimplex’s Quantum energy system has revolutionised the way in which electrically heated homes are heated, already proving popular in the owner-occupied, private rental and social housing sectors.
The Quantum energy system delivers controllable heat on demand to meet the specific needs of a household. Thanks to unique advances in insulation technology and controllability, the innovative heating system maximises the amount of heat stored from off-peak energy tariffs and gives users the ability to use it only when they need it, throughout the day.
An independent assessment of the system using SAP2012 shows that Quantum heaters can reduce running costs by up 27 percent when compared with a standard storage heater system and up to 47 percent when compared with an electric convector or radiator system – saving up to £975 on annual heating costs.
Chris Stammers, marketing director for installed products at GDC Group, said: “Quantum continues to prove extremely popular thanks to its cost-saving capabilities, ease of installation and ease of use. “This compact 500W model is already in high demand as electrical contractors are waiting to replace smaller storage heaters, and we are confident it will prove popular in both private and social homes.
“More than two million homes are still heated by outdated storage heaters in the UK and Quantum is proving to be the unanimous choice to replace them, helping to lift people out of fuel poverty in the process.”
