MK wiring accessories are being installed in what will be one of the most exclusive luxury conference complexes in Britain.
The 18th century crenulated coaching house on the 600 acre Slebech Park estate in the rolling countryside of Pembrokeshire has been converted to provide a state of the art conference centre for up to 25 delegates, innovatively arranged into two and three-bedroom apartments. During the traditional holiday periods, when conference activity is reduced, the 14 apartments are being used by an exclusive member's club on a seasonal ownership basis. When fully opened by mid 2005, the complex will also contain exhibition facilities, a restaurant, and heath suite with spa and swimming pool. The idea of converting the coaching house into a seasonal ownership /conference complex for the top end of the market came from the owners of the estate, Geoffrey and Georgina Philipps* as an unusual agricultural diversification project. By creating a seasonal ownership/conference complex, the Philipps's are making the facilities available all the year round. As a conference centre Slebech will accommodate up to 25 delegates targeted at the 40% of the conference trade in Britain that is for meetings involving less than 40 people. Significantly, the only other similar centre to Slebech is at Wick in Scotland. For 15 prime holiday weeks a year the facilities will be available exclusively to the seasonal owners who will have all the benefits of a 5 star luxury venue. In keeping with the style of the owners, MK's elegant Aspect switches and unobtrusive Edge combination plates have been installed in the apartments and conference rooms. The Edge stacked combination plates have four DP dual earth switched 13A socket outlets and two 100x50mm apertures, one of which will be fitted with a European socket outlet. IT/TV Data outlets are also accommodated. White Logic Plus switches and sockets are installed elsewhere. MK products were specified by the M&E consultants Rubyshine, with Georgina and Geoffrey Philipps opting for the Aspect and Edge accessories. Georgina Philipps, who has 30 years experience at the top end of the interior design market says she chose Edge Combination Plates for their slimness and aesthetics. Her preference is for sockets to be as unobtrusive as possible and the Edge plates fitted this requirement ideally. The multi-million pound project has the backing of the Welsh Development Agency and the Wales Tourist Board with ERDF funding through the Objective One programme. Aros are the architects, Rubyshine Ltd is the M&E consultant working with electrical contractors EMC of Carmarthen, while the Pembroke branch of Newey & Eyre supplied the MK accessories. MK Electric is a wholly owned business of Novar plc. (LSE: NVR.L).
