Cardiff University has adapted to major changes in wiring requirements thanks to the installation of MK’s 'Plus' ranges of wiring and cable management products. 12 NOV 2002
In the early 1990s, the University found itself struggling to cope with the huge influx of IT equipment in its buildings. As Deputy Director of Estates Ian Lomer comments, "Many of our buildings were constructed many years ago, long before IT networks were even conceived. Electrical safety is always of paramount importance to us, and the existing wiring was straining to cope with new IT installations."
MK was the only manufacturer able to meet the specifications devised by Maintenance Engineer, Keith Sims, in order to ensure total safety for the University's IT installations. In fact MK even accelerated its High Integrity Earthing development programme to serve the needs of Cardiff University. The University subsequently became the first MK customer to order from the Logic Plus range - the day after it was launched!
"We've been installing MK products in all our new computer rooms," says Keith Sims. "Much of our work involves refurbishment of existing buildings, and High Integrity Earthing is always a key issue in these cases. The safety features of Logic Plus quite simply give us the peace of mind we require."
