More cutting power, less effort: The new generation of KNIPEX Cable Shears

Repeatedly cutting larger cables can be hard on the hands, so KNIPEX has redesigned its 165mm Cable Shears to make every cut easier. An optimised joint and blade design means the new generation requires around 20 per cent less effort than the previous model, while still delivering a clean cut without crushing the cable.

The updated Cable Shears range covers models 95 11 through to 95 26 and has been developed with frequent, one-handed cutting in mind. The combination of improved leverage and revised cutting geometry reduces the force needed at the handles, making repetitive work easier - including for users with smaller hands.

A slimmer head also improves access when cables have to be cut inside distribution equipment, enclosures or other restricted spaces. The maximum cutting capacity is 16mm diameter or 50mm² (AWG 1/0).

An adjustable screw joint gives the shears smooth, precise movement, while a concealed closing stop minimises the risk of fingers being pinched as the handles come together.

KNIPEX has also brought the handle sleeves closer to the joint. This allows the jaws to open wider for easier insertion of cable without requiring the user to change their normal hand position - a small detail that can make a noticeable difference during repetitive work.

Laser-hardened cutting edges provide the durability required for regular professional use and help maintain cutting performance over a long service life.

For tradespeople who spend much of the working day cutting cable, models 95 21, 95 22 and 95 26 add an opening spring for comfortable repetitive operation, together with a lock that keeps the shears securely closed during transport.

Depending on the model, the Cable Shears weigh between 199g and 250g and are available in different finishes and handle configurations, including insulated versions. The range is intended for copper and aluminium cables and is not suitable for steel wire or hard-drawn copper conductors.
