Meet the KNIPEX ErgoStrip® XL: a compact all-in-one tool designed to make preparing larger cables quicker, easier and more precise.

Preparing larger sized cables can mean changing tools several times before the conductors are ready to terminate. The latest member of the ErgoStrip® family, the KNIPEX ErgoStrip® XL (16 95 11) brings circumferential cutting, longitudinal cutting, sheath splitting and conductor stripping together in one compact tool.
Designed for standardised round cables from 12 to 28mm in diameter, including NYM and NYY types, the ErgoStrip® XL is particularly suited to larger residential and industrial installations. Typical applications include preparing supply cables for distribution boards, sub-distribution boards, wall boxes and inverters.
Its compact, ergonomic shape is designed to comfortably sit in the user’s hands and make accurate cable preparation easier where working space is restricted. Fixed blades provide fast, controlled removal of the outer sheath, with three blades reducing the amount of wrist rotation required during circumferential cutting.
For longitudinal cuts, positioning marks help the installer align the cutting blade accurately before starting the cut. Once the sheath has been cut, an integrated splitting aid helps open it so it can be removed from the cable.
The ErgoStrip® XL then takes care of the individual conductors. Six stripping sizes are incorporated into the tool, covering conductor and stranded-wire cross-sections of 2.5, 4, 6, 10, 16 and 25mm². Location ridges make individual conductors easier to insert into the appropriate stripping position.
Integrated scales also help achieve consistently accurate stripping lengths - useful where multiple conductors need to be prepared to the same dimension before termination.
The result is a single 124mm long tool that handles four important stages of cable preparation while weighing just 64g. When working on larger installations, this means fewer separate tools to pick up, put down or carry around the job.
Its combination of stripping, longitudinal cutting, circumferential cutting and sheath splitting also makes the ErgoStrip® XL particularly useful inside distribution equipment and other installations where space is limited and repeatedly reaching for different tools is inconvenient.
