A clean cut through pipe without catching the cables inside: The new KNIPEX BiX® CT56 insert

Cutting corrugated conduit when cables are already inside demands control: cut too deeply and the conductors beneath can be damaged. KNIPEX has launched an insert for the BiX®. The BiX® CT56 insert (90 22 10 E03) enables the pipe cutter to cut many common corrugated pipes along the outer corrugation, helping installers make a clean cut without damaging the cables inside.

The new cutting insert extends the BiX® system to corrugated pipes with diameters from 19 to 56mm, while rigid plastic pipes from 20 to 56mm can also be cut with the tool. The insert can be rotated 180°, allowing the BiX® CT56 to work with both fine and coarse corrugation profiles. It accommodates corrugations up to 4.7mm wide.

For electricians and installers working with pre-wired conduit, the ability to cut around the outside of the corrugation is particularly useful. Rather than allowing a blade to project unnecessarily towards the conductors, the insert guides the cut around the pipe, reducing the risk of damaging the cables beneath. The blue corrugated pipe cutting insert is removable. With it taken out, the tool can be used on rigid plastic pipes and sealing sleeves. The new insert is available separately, allowing an existing compatible KNIPEX BiX® 90 22 10 BK to be converted for cutting corrugated pipe. It is also available as a complete set consisting of the BiX® and the insert, as part number 90 22 10 V01.

For convenience on site, two spare blades are stored inside the tool, while an integrated locking mechanism keeps it safely closed during transport. The KNIPEX BiX® CT56 is suitable for many commonly used corrugated pipes, but is not intended for slotted or multi-layer corrugated tubing.

With one compact tool able to tackle corrugated conduit, rigid plastic pipe and sealing sleeves, the BiX® CT56 gives installers a versatile cutting option for electrical and building-services work.
