Introduction to Part L and Part F course
In April 2006, major changes to the Building Regulations and supporting Approved Documents will come into force. The aim of these changes is to reduce carbon emissions from buildings and implement the EU's Energy Performance of Buildings Directive.

The Part L 'Conservation of Fuel and Power' Approved Documents will demand stricter energy targets for all buildings, and make airtightness testing mandatory. The Part F 'Means of Ventilation' Approved Document will ensure that the mantra 'Build tight, ventilate right' is followed.

Who should attend?

This BSRIA course has been designed for professionals in the building industry: Building owners, designers, architects, building control assessors and equipment manufacturers. No previous knowledge of Building Regulations is required.

The course content:

Delegates will learn about:

  • The regulatory framework.
  • Background behind the changes.
  • The structure of the new Part L Approved Documents.
  • The path to compliance under the new documents.
  • New or changed guidance provisions.
  • The changing role of air-tightness.
Accompanying changes to the Part F Approved Document.
  • How the changes will affect you.

Learning outcomes:

Delegates will leave the session with a greater understanding of how Building Regulations work, in particular those regarding energy efficiency and ventilation. This should lead to a smoother transition once the changes come into effect.

The agenda for the day is currently under development - but the guide start time is 9.00am (registration and coffee) and finish will be 16.30.

Documentation and prices:

Delegates are provided with a training pack, containing a copy of the overheads. The prices are, for non-members: £265 + VAT (£311.37), and £200 + VAT (£235) for a second delegate, and for members: £210 + VAT (£246.75), and £175 + VAT (£205.62) for a second delegate.
