Our expert answers a question from a Voltimum user about flickering LED lights.

Question:
How can I stop LED lights flickering when dimming their output?
Answer:
LED lights are controlled with a driver device. In order to control the output of the lights we need to use specific dimmers with LED lights in order to remove flickering. LED dimmers need to employ leading edge or trailing edge technology, depending on the chosen lights. A LED dimmer will remove one part of the AC wave form (leading edge or trailing edge) to alter the light output. Without this type of dimmer you may have problems such as;
- Flickering of lights
- Buzzing from the dimmer
- Unable to reach full luminance
- Unable to turn completely off
Click provide a Dual Mode Dimmer Module (MD9014) which provides the perfect solution to all the problems listed above. Find out more here about the dimmer module here.
