A range of Eaton MEM panel-mounting switch-disconnectors spanning the range 40A to 1600A, offers excellent performance, especially on AC23 duty (switching three-phase motors and other highly inductive loads):
These new LBV panel-mounting switch-disconnectors by Eaton MEM Circuit Protection and Control also provide on-load switching and isolation of single-phase and three-phase AC loads up to 690V and DC loads up to 250V.
Other features of the new range include a moulded housing which protects the contact mechanism and yet provides visual indication of contact separation, and clip-and-blade wiping contacts.
The moulded, insulated housing protects the contact mechanism against the ingress of dust and foreign bodies. It also supports the fixed contact assembly so that each contact is isolated from the operating mechanism in the OFF position. Clip-and-blade wiping action contacts give reliable operation and zero contact bounce. Each contact pair comprises two silver-plated copper contacts. Each pole has separate arc shutes for effective arc extinction. A 'stored-energy' over-centre mechanism ensures efficient operator-independent switching.
Nine ratings:
There are nine different ratings from 40A to 1600A. The switches are fully rated for AC21 and AC22 duty and have enhanced AC23 performance (40-1250A). Incoming and outgoing terminals on the 40A and 63A units have box clamp terminals while units from 125A upwards use tinned copper lugs.
Black moulded handles and operating shafts for door mounting are supplied with each switch. They achieve an IP41 International Protection rating. Handles can be padlocked in the OFF position and incorporate a door interlocking facility. ON-OFF indication is provided on the operating handle. It is also provided on the switch housing. Visual inspection of the actual contact position is provided through a window in the switch housing.
Fruits of a collaboration:
The LBV panel-mounting switch-disconnectors are the fruit of collaboration between MEM Circuit Protection and Control and Holec, another member of the Eaton Electrical group. They have been tested in accordance with BS EN 60947-3, Specification for low-voltage switchgear and controlgear. Switches, disconnectors, switch-disconnectors and fuse-combination units and the corresponding International publication, IEC 60947-3.
