EMCOR Group (UK) Presented With New British Standard Award For Client Partnering Excellence

MCOR Group (UK), the first facilities management provider in the UK to be awarded certification to PAS 11000, the standard for Collaborative Business Relationships, by the British Standards Institution (BSI) in April 2010, is now pleased to announce that it has achieved and been awarded an additional and new certification - the full British Standard BS 11000. EMCOR UK is the first facilities management provider to achieve the BS 11000 certification, recognising EMCOR's track record in developing long-term client relationships.

The new British Standard BS 11000, builds on PAS 11000, by emphasising improved strategic collaboration across public and private organisations in the UK, as well as recognising the importance of collaborative working on a global scale. EMCOR's clients have always benefited from its collaborative approach, but since April of last year, an independently assessed framework has been in place that effectively ensures the knowledge, skills, processes and resources to meet mutually defined objectives are in place. EMCOR UK provides facilities management and engineering services to a diverse range of private and public sector organisations.

The new BS 11000 is the first relationship management standard for creating and maintaining successful business-to-business partnerships and provides a foundation for assessing organisations internally and externally, which will drive improved performance across the facilities management industry. The standard provides an eight-stage approach to help organisations develop and manage their own approaches to collaborative working with their clients. It sets out a framework that will enable companies like EMCOR to apply good practice principles to its own way of working, and has wide applications on how to manage valuable business relationships within the supply chain.

EMCOR UK, one of the UK's leading providers of facilities management, technical and support services, first chose to pilot the PAS 11000 programme with key customer BAE Systems in 2009. During the last two years, the BAE Systems and EMCOR teams have worked hard to encourage and demonstrate integrated planning and delivery. This has been achieved through joint learning and strategic planning, resulting in the creation of a new ‘Service ONE' account model focused on supporting BAE business goals and the delivery of customer service excellence.

Nick Morris, Managing Director for EMCOR Facilities Services, commented: "It has long been recognised within EMCOR that sustaining long-term relationships with key customers is vital for the success of our business as well as our client's future growth aspirations. Our achievement of the PAS standard was a proud moment, particularly as we were the first organisation in the facilities management sector to have achieved it, but to be awarded certification to the new British Standard is incredible news."

Nick continues: "EMCOR is different, not only in the services that we deliver, but in the way that we work and integrate with our customers. Ultimately we envisage that the whole spectrum of our relationships, from the preferred and valued members of our supply chain, through to our key customers, can be measured against this new and important business standard."

From museums to complex manufacturing environments and prime real estate to government facilities, EMCOR offers a broad range of integrated services and tailored flexible support that allows clients to concentrate on their core businesses. EMCOR has enjoyed significant success at developing and, more importantly, maintaining long-term, productive relationships with many of its key customers, including British Airways and BAE Systems for over ten years.
