I have checked the Guidance Note 3 and BS7671: 2008, but they only give vague recommendations (as usual), and generally leave it up to the responsible person.
So, how much of the installation needs to be tested, and what tests should be carried out?
Answer: You may use sampling, but make it clear to the client that is the basis on which you are quoting and also record that on the report.
All relevant tests, where practicable, should be carried out on the circuits contained in the sample.
