Q & A of the Day - Can I accept a request not to change socket heights?
This Q & A is one of thousands posted in our Technical Expertise area, and answered on a daily basis by our Voltimum Experts.

Question: I am about to start a re-wire at a 1950s property, but the client insists that the positioning of the sockets and light switches remains unchanged. Bearing in mind that these do not comply with current min/max height level regulations, can I accept her request? I do not believe that I will get the job if I do not!

Answer: A complete re-wire should comply with Part M of the Building Regulations. If your client requests that you should not to comply, this fact should be recorded in writing and copied back to your client.
