The weekend of the 20th November saw the grand final of the Euro Challenge take place in Miami...
This was the culmination of the drive five challenge heats that have been taking place across Europe since March 2004. Finalists from 16 European countries gathered together, to compete for a Porsche Boxter, and a total of €16,000 worth of DEWALT power tools.
The grand final consisted of four rounds, in which competitors from Central Europe, Eastern Europe, Iberia and Scandinavia competed head to head for the best time possible, in which to drive five screws into a piece of wood. The competition drew large crowds of the race goers and the excitement grew with each round. In the baking heat of Miami the atmosphere was tense as the competition drew to a close. It was a fitting conclusion to a highly successful pan European competition.
The winning time was an impressive 13.48 seconds, achieved by the Spanish contestant, Daniel Martinez Espino, a carpenter from Sallent. The event was held at the Miami Speedway track, where the competitors were able to enjoy the Nascar Nextel Cup Final, in which the Dewalt sponsored driver, Matt Kenseth, was competing.
Overall the event was a huge success with over 500,000 participants across Europe.
