ASK AN EXPERT! Our expert from SELECT answers the question from a Voltimum user.

Question:
We are installing static discharge points for helicopters in a repair workshop hanger. Basically we are installing an electrode for each point to a depth of 3m.
We have been told that the acceptable result for the electrodes is 10,000 ohms, which seems aa bit high even though this is only for static discharge.
Can you please assist or clarify?
Best regards
Ian

The relevant information you require, may be found in these British Standards

BS5958-2 Code of practice for Control of Undesirable Static Electricity Part 2: Recommendations for Particular Industrial Situations

Additionally the HSE may need to be contacted for further guidance on how to comply.
