Question: Who is responsible for testing electric vehicle public charging stations?
Also, how often should those situated in vulnerable positions be tested?
Answer: In general, regular testing can be agreed with the local charge point supplier.
However, an EV charger should be tested before installation for compliance with the local country's CE, electrical and health and safety requirements.
After that, the company that sells the charging station should be able to offer remote testing as part of a Service Level Agreement (SLA). A remote connection to a Network Operations Centre can offer continuous, 24/7 automatic and monitored testing.
Remote preventative maintenance should result in minimised down time – also note that remote repairs are possible. Then, if an engineer’s visit is required, he/she will have the solution with them when they visit the charging station.
