Infrarail 2016 is ABB’s first UK rail event since it combined its low- and medium-voltage businesses into a single Electrification Products division.
Visitors to the stand had the opportunity to find out more on Furse earthing products that have recently passed Network Rail’s stringent PADS product acceptance. The range builds on the ABB portfolio of Network Rail’s approvals, which included the showcased PMA flexible conduit range. Only applications with PADS approval can be used on Network Rail’s infrastructure and gaining approval demonstrates that products are safe, fit for purpose and do not represent unacceptable risk to infrastructure.
Harsh conditions mean that ABB’s flexible conduits brands PMA and Adaptaflex have the highest safety standards and are resilient to environmental conditions that can expose them to vibration, extreme temperatures, mechanical and chemical abuse and UV light. Products are tested to demonstrate long-term resistance to the effects of these and conform to fire safety standards.
Another highlight of the exhibition was a visit by Claire Perry, Parliamentary Under-Secretary of State for Transport, who took time to discover more about ABB’s cable protection and earthing brands, as well as the ABB strategy for long-term support and innovation in the rail industry.
