The new, flex7 plug-in switches make PELV installations quick, easy and cost-effective.

Flex Connectors has introduced a unique range of plug-in switches to the flex7 range. The switches operate at Protected Extra Low Voltage (PELV) and offer the installer dramatic time savings. Switches are connected using a lead with RJ11 connectors, one end plugging into the switch, the other into the flex7 control pack or ZoneLite unit. This completely negates the need for on-site cable preparation and means the switch can be connected in seconds.
The switches themselves come in a black or white finish and are designed to clip directly into any manufacturer’s 50 x 50 Euromod decorative fascia. The ability to mix and match module colour with a myriad of decorative fascias from the majority of accessory manufacturers means a huge variety of finishes are possible.
Whether using a 1,2,3 or 4 gang variant when fitting, a standard single back box with 60.3mm centre is all that’s required, one size really does fit all.
Some of the many benefits of the new flex7 switches are:
- Time-saving
- Simple plug-in installation with RJ11 connectivity
- No onsite terminations
- Available as 1, 2, 3 or 4 gang module
- Retractive & centre return retractive options
- Clips into 50mm x 50mm Euromod style fascia
- Black or white to suit decor / Part M
- Operates at Protected Extra Low Voltage (PELV)
What’s so good about PELV anyway?
You may be of the opinion that installing a PELV control system is a costly, not to mention, complicated exercise and that sticking with the more familiar 230 V option is probably best.
However, the flex7 system is designed to be as easy to install and cost-effective as possible. The system incorporates PELV control as standard. This means that any wiring to a connected control device, be it a switch or a sensor, requires neither mechanical nor RCD protection, regardless of cable location. Furthermore, because the link from controller to device is made via factory prepared leads - complete with RJ connectivity - there’s no on-site cutting, stripping and terminating required; everything simply plugs together.
In short, opting to go down the PELV route can make for a quick, easy, error-free install with the added bonus of reducing materials and labour.
