Twenty-one year old Shani Bowman of WF Electrical has become the first person to pass six Electrical Distributors Association (EDA) Product Knowledge modules - all with straight distinctions:

Young woman achieves six straight electrical distinctions

Recognising Shani’s achievements, WF Electrical formally commended her at a ceremony held at Clare College, Cambridge, on 30 October.

An internal sales representative at WF Electrical's Cambridge branch, Miss Bowman has increased her knowledge of electrical wholesaling, by completing a number of EDA modules. As part of a City and Guilds qualification, she has gained distinctions in Switch Gear Distribution and Protection, Cables and Wiring Accessories, Lamps and Lighting, Health and Safety and Customer Care.

Encouragement from WF Electrical and her own ambition has led Shani to go on to study for further qualifications. She has recently gained another distinction in the EDA module Fundamentals of Electricity and is currently studying the Industrial Products module in which she is also expected to achieve a distinction. These results highlight female success in a predominantly male industry.

An EDA achievement award:

Shani Bowman's outstanding results have already earned her an EDA achievement award for 'product knowledge', as well as recognition and praise from WF Electrical. "I really enjoy improving my knowledge of electrical products. The things I've learnt from these modules mean that I can provide a better service to our customers," explained Shani. "My goal now is to continue studying and complete all EDA modules."

Shani Bowman joined WF Electrical three and a half years ago. Her day-to-day role in the Cambridge branch involves working on the trade counter, customer service - both over the phone and face-to-face - and administration. "We give all employees the opportunities to study towards important qualifications and Shani is just one example of how beneficial this can be for both the company and the employee," commented Andy Allen, Cambridge branch manager. "She has a bright future ahead and we are very proud of her."
