This SQA accredited Training Programme has been designed for practicing electricians and others responsible for ensuring that electrical installations are installed and commissioned in accordance with current requirements. Successful completion of the course is accepted by the SJIB for Grade card renewal.Note: The course does not cover the detailed requirements for inspection and testing of new and existing installtions.
Aim:
The aim of this programme is to provide detailed information on the particular requirements of BS 7671: 2008 (2015).
To complete this course successfully the participant must be able to demonstrate knowledge of this standard by successful completion of the course assessments.
Course Content:
This programme is made up of two parts. There is a short online course* on ‘Introduction to BS 7671’ that needs completed and delegates also need to successfully complete a one-day training course on Requirements for Electrical Installations to BS 7671 :2008 (2015).
*If you would prefer not to complete an online element, courses 214 or 208 would be suitable alternatives
Introduction to BS 7671 (Online Course)
The online course provides a basic introduction to BS 7671. The aim of the course is to ensure that delegates can successfully navigate and find key information from the IET Wiring Regulations. It is estimated that this introductory course will only take a few hours to complete.
To complete the online course, candidates will need access to Requirements for Electrical Installations (17th Edition Wiring Regs) BS 7671:2008 (2015).
The online component complements the material that will be covered on the day-training course. To get the most from the training day we recommend that delegates complete the online course before attending the day-course. However, delegates can complete the online element up to one-month after the training course date.

There are assessments at various points in the day. These consist of workbook exercises and multiple choice questions.
Candidates must successfully complete BOTH the online course and the day-course before we can apply for the certificate from the SQA.
