This SQA accredited training programme has been designed for practicing electricians who want to keep their skills and knowledge up-to-date in relation to inspection, testing and certification of new electrical installations and additions and alterations.
Overview:
The programme is suitable for those who require knowledge of the initial verification process and requirements for certification. Participants gain practical hands-on experience in the use of test instruments.
Successful completion of the course is accepted by the SJIB for Grade Card renewal.
Aim:
The aim of this training programme is to help delegates build their knowledge and practical skills in Initial Verification and in the requirements for certification. This course will help delegates understanding the requirements contained in the latest version of BS 7671 for such work.
Note: This particular course focusses on the requirements for new installations and alterations only. If you are interested in gaining knowledge in Periodic Inspection course 214 is more suitable for your needs.
Course Content:
This programme is made up of two separate parts. There is a short online course* ‘Introduction to BS 7671’ and delegates attend a one-day training course on Initial Verification of Electrical Installations to BS 7671 : 2008 (2015).
*If you would prefer not to complete an online element, courses 214 or 208 would be suitable alternatives.
Introduction to BS 7671 (Online Course)
The online course provides a basic introduction to BS 7671. The aim of the course is to ensure that delegates can successfully navigate and find key information from the latest version of the IET Wiring Regulations. This course takes a few hours to complete and can be completed in stages. This course can be done on PC’s or
I-pads.
To complete the online course, candidates will need access to Requirements for Electrical Installations (17th Edition Wiring Regs) BS 7671:2008 (2015).
The online component complements the material that will be covered on the day-training course. To get the most from the training day we recommend that delegates complete the online course before attending the day-course. However, delegates can complete the online element up to one-month after the training course date.
