The Role
flex7 Limited are #1 in the market for lighting connection and control products. An opportunity has arisen for a Sales and Specification Engineer to join the team, selling and promoting the full suite of products within the wholesale, electrical consultant and contractor markets.
The main focus of the role is to market and develop new client opportunities, concentrating on:
- Promoting flex7 to Contractors
- Securing flex7 on Contractor projects
- Specifying flex7 on projects via Consultants
- Securing specification on major projects
- Developing Electrical Wholesale channels within the region
The role is a proactive, client facing role, enabling the company to respond professionally to convert sales opportunities to new sales through new business development and enhancement of existing Contractor and Wholesale channels.
Key Responsibilities and Accountabilities
- Actively develop new business opportunities and forge relations with new and existing contractors and wholesalers within the region.
- Grow the business by focusing on flex7 solutions and derivatives thereof, new products and solutions as they are released, and maximising of offer value and margin.
- Introduce flex7 into key electrical lighting projects and help design flex7 into projects where required.
- Take the lead on opportunities, both in terms of solution provision, target pricing and client dialogue, ensuring that the clients’ requirements are understood and addressed in coherent and professional terms, whilst ensuring offer and margins are in-line with targets.
- Work with regional M&E consultants on specifying flex7 onto major projects and ensuring the specification is held by the chosen Electrical Contractor.
- When working on major projects, support will be provided by our Internal Projects Department. This will require close partnership and sharing of information to ensure the best solution is achieved for both client and company.
- Manage existing accounts to ensure all future opportunities are maximised and support the accounts so they are able to design and develop their own solutions using flex7.
- Support those responsible for maintaining sales administration, documentation and presentation standards in line with company procedures.
- Participate in monthly sales pipeline review meetings and attend quarterly UK wide sales meetings.
- Ensure all client plans and information are regularly updated on the company approved CRM tool (min. weekly) and monthly report completed.
- Participate in regional/national exhibitions or client events as required and follow up on any leads gained at said events in conjunction with the Marketing Department.
- Liaise internally with: -Sales and Specification Engineers from other areas, Internal Projects Department, Sales Managers and Sales Director, Marketing Department and customer service.
- Achieve and exceed an agreed sales growth budget and meet regular sales targets.
- Maintain the security and confidential status of all information so designated; to conduct all activities in a professional manner at all times and ensure procedures are followed.
- To understand and complete all work related documentation accurately and on time.
- To understand and comply with policies and procedures.
- To carry out work in a safe and diligent manner.
- To attend and fully participate in training and appraisal activities as required.

Skills Profile
- Technical sales background
- A background in the electrical and lighting industry would be advantageous
- Must be prepared to have a flexible approach to working
- Quality communicator at both technical and senior levels
- Excellent communication and IT skills
- The ability to work to deadlines
- Business and strategic development skills.
Qualifications/Experience
- City & Guilds Part 1, 2 and 3 or above preferred.
- Previous electrical industry expertise – including operational exposure is desirable.
- Estimating experience desirable.

- The post holder will work and live within London or Home Counties west of London (Ideally Bedford , Hertford , South Bucks, East Berks, Surrey)
- Working within a team in London Region
- Eligibility to work in the UK.
