Q & A of the Day - Can I run a 'spur from a spur' for an extra bedroom socket?
Question: I've been asked to provide an extra socket outlet in a bedroom, but the most convenient socket from which to extend the circuit is already a spur from the ring.

Am I correct in thinking I can run a 'spur from a spur', as long as overload protection is included using a 13A fuse?

If so, should the fuse be installed before the first spur, or can it be placed prior to the second spur socket outlet? In short, can the additional spur be a 13A fused socket outlet?

Answer: The fused connection would need to be sited before any outlets to make it a fused spur.
