Q & A of the Day - BS 7671 – ‘Diversity’ in air-conditioning
Question: Can you please tell me whether it is appropriate to apply the On-Site Guide (OSG) Table 1B 'heating and power' allowance to air-conditioning units for assessing the load?

Answer: The information in Table 1B can be used for guidance. However the OSG makes clear that it is impossible to specify the appropriate allowance for diversity for every type of installation and equipment, and that this may require specialist knowledge and experience to determine. Table 1B can therefore be increased or decreased as seen fit by the engineer responsible for the installation design.
