NAPIT are pleased to announce the launch of three new Government approved competent persons shcemes in Heating, Plumbing and Ventilation. Along with its already sucessful electrical scheme, NAPIT can now offer one of the most comprehensive one stop shop for a tradesman to self certify their work.
Recent changes to the Building Regulations mean that it is now a legal requirement for a number of different trades to notify their domestic work to the local building authorities. In response NAPIT is pleased to launch three new Government approved competent person schemes which allow tradesmen to self certify all of their work through NAPIT’s virtual one stop shop.
The three new schemes cover Plumbing, Heating and Ventilation, and in conjunction with the existing electrical scheme offer the most comprehensive avenue for a tradesman to comply with the building regulations simply and without any hassle.
The new Building Regulations apply primarily to domestic installations and specify the kinds of work that require notifying for each different trade. For example Part H of the building regulations covers plumbing, where many installations of sanitary ware, washing facilities or bathrooms now require notification. Part F covers ventilation and this requires notification for installation of air conditioning or ventilation systems. While Parts J, L and G incorporate heating and hot water, and stipulate that the installation of combustion appliances, storage tanks, heating and hot water service systems and un-vented hot water systems all require notification. These changes bring the relevant areas in line with the legislation for new electrical works implemented in 2005 under part P.
The Benefits of this scheme for both tradesmen and the general public are extensive. Self certification make it harder for rogue operators to install domestic work, so your customers can be sure that by choosing a NAPIT member they are selecting a tradesman who quality and professionalism is second to none. Plus being able to avoid the local authorities means that you can provide a better and faster service at a cost much lower than if you needed expensive inspections from building control.
The new NAPIT schemes streamline the way its members comply with the Building Regulations. In all of its schemes NAPIT takes away the hassle of dealing with the local authorities by notifying completed works on behalf of its members. Additionally there is the extra benefits of being able to easily notify all aspects of your installation using one company, one system and one notification. The cost advantages of joining these schemes are also significant, as you only need to pay a single membership, and only one low notification fee for each job. No other company can offer such a comprehensive one stop shop.
To become a member of any of these schemes a prospective candidate must undergo a thorough inspection that ensures they are competent in their relevant trades. Successful applicants become part of team that has a reputation for excellence and expertise. Simply, a NAPIT member is the amongst the best tradesmen in their field.
NAPIT’s electrical, heating, plumbing and ventilation schemes are by far the most simple and effective way to comply with the new changes in the Building Regulations.
