Pirelli Cable's FP200 Gold and Flex cables have been successfully tested over long distances by Notifier Fire Systems and consequently approved as the data link cables for their new network system, ID2Net:
The success of the stringent testing has strengthened Pirelli's eight-year relationship with Notifier, part of Honeywell International and one of the foremost manufacturers and suppliers of equipment for fire detection systems in the world.
ID2Net (Intelligent Digital Delivery Network), Notifier's network/peer to peer alarm system is the cutting edge of fire networking technology and has been developed to exceed international requirements and to set new industry standards in the areas of speed, reliability, robustness and flexibility.
In order to fully-test the capabilities of ID2Net, an upgrade of Notifier's cable system called for more sophisticated cabling and, after looking at several brands, Pirelli FP200 Gold outshone the competition, performing best in tests held earlier this year. Capable of linking 32 boards and supporting 2km length, FP200 Gold cable gave Notifier the high performance their large system demanded.
ID2NET cable compatibility:
Notifier carried out extensive cable testing with the ID2Net. Applying the following guidelines will allow networks to be installed with cable runs of up to 2000m.
Test results show maximum communication distances ranging from 1000m to 2000m with Pirelli FP200 Gold and Flex Different cable cross sections for the same make and type of cable gives almost identical results Doubling up wires in multi-pair cables produces shorter operating distances. It is better to use a single pair and leave the others unused to avoid cross talk Use screened cables to comply with the EMC requirements, and reduce the possibility of external interference.

The cables tested and the maximum distances achieved are: Pirelli FP200 Flex 1.5mm2 - 1000m and Pirelli FP200 Gold 1.5mm2 - 2000m.
