JTL, one of the UK’s leading apprenticeship providers in the building services engineering sector, is proud to have won ‘Training Resource Provider of the Year’ at the 2024 Electrical Industry Awards.
Now in its 32nd year, the Electrical Industry Awards are an annual celebration of the best electrical industry professionals have to offer, including high-quality training for the next generation of skilled workers. The Training Resource Provider of the Year award is presented for a resource created to aid those working in the electrical sector with their ongoing training and professional development, while enhancing their knowledge and encouraging best practice.
Winners were announced at an online ceremony today, Thursday 24th October, presented by BBC presenter Sarah Keith-Lucas on Thursday 24 October, having been judged by an independent panel. Entrants are analysed on the basis of innovation, quality of content and effectiveness. JTL won the award amongst stiff competition from other finalists, BSH and NAPIT.
JTL won the accolade after demonstrating the utilisation of its growing LEDA platform. LEDA (Learn, Educate, Develop, Advance) is a bespoke online learning platform used across the whole JTL Group; with over 17,000 users and growing, it supports the learner’s journey not only during the apprenticeship process but with lifelong learning options.
Apprentices use LEDA to complete modules during their apprenticeship before continuing their career journey with tailored pathways through CompEx and Develop Training qualifications. The LEDA platform has been specifically designed to empower learners, enhance training standards, and streamline the delivery of educational resources. It has an innate emphasis on interactivity, created to meet the needs of vocational learners by enabling experiential learning via online demonstration before engaging in a practical workshop or the workplace.
The platform also boasts a tailored programme designed to assist learners with preparation for their AM2S End Point Assessment, a critical milestone for aspiring electricians. Under the guidance of the subject matter tutor, who set up a bespoke rig in JTL’s Oxford training centre to demonstrate key elements, the resources cover a wide range of topics, including practical installation, inspection and testing, fault diagnosis and correction, and safe working practices.
Chris Claydon, Chief Executive of the JTL Group, commented:
“At a time of growth and opportunity for the electrical industry, we are delighted to have won this Award in recognition of LEDA as an innovative platform fostering high quality training. Amongst stiff competition it is a real testament to our Digital Learning team to have taken forward this initiative and developed it to this high standard.
At JTL we do not stand still, and continue to develop ways to nurture our learners, making use of new technologies in line with industry demand.”
Martin Lidyard, Head of Digital Learning at JTL, said:
“We are incredibly proud that LEDA has been recognised for the innovation and genuine difference it is making to all learners, from early career apprentices to those further along their professional pathway undertaking further qualifications to thrive in their profession. LEDA is used by over 17,000 people, available in 56 countries, 44 different languages and across six continents.
“We’re continually looking at ways we can evolve the learning experience that we provide for our apprentices and throughout their onward career.”
LEDA was launched in 2022, as a result of work between JTL and Titus Learning. The platform provides an online learning system for the entire JTL Group, which also consists of certification scheme, CompEx, and compliance, technical and safety training provider, Develop Training.
