Horstmann Electrisaver provides energy saving failsafe

Published: 12 March 2014 Category: News

Recently a variety of different partners including Citizen’s Advice Bureau (CAB), the Energy Saving Trust and the energy companies organised ‘Big Energy Saving Week.’ During the week the Energy Saving Trust launched its energy ‘myth busters’ which blew away many of the ‘myths’ that surround supposed ‘energy saving’ practices such as the use of screen savers and leaving the heating on 24/7 in the belief they save energy in the long run.

Horstmann Electrisaver provides energy saving failsafe
Central heating and hot water controls experts Horstmann concur fully with the myth busters concept. It also fully understands that high kW electrical equipment such as heated towel rails, immersion heaters, room panel heaters and oil filled mobile heaters can be inadvertently left on and can produce spiralling bills.

Cue multiple applications for the Horstmann Electrisaver.

Electrisaver is a fixed, push button electronic timer for short term power boosting.  It has a 3kW load switching capability which makes it ideal for electrical equipment such as heaters that is likely to be left powered when not required.

The Electrisaver family has grown from the pioneering E15 offering 15, 30 or 60 minute time period options to the E30 with its 30, 60 and 120 minute durations up to the latest E246 offering 2, 4 or 6 hour options.

Ideal for use in hotels, offices, student accommodation or in the home where electric heating appliances may be left on or forgotten, the Horstmann ‘Electrisaver’ time switch is an easy-to-use, energy and cost saving device.

“Equipment such as immersion heaters and panel heaters are often needed for relatively short periods but overlooked and left active – which can be very costly,” explains Horstmann sales director Paul Lovegrove. “The push button Electrisaver’ overcomes that problem and will pay for itself time and again in reducing fuel bills and wasted energy.”

Compact and easy to install, Electrisaver can be flush or surface mounted with a single gang moulded box (not supplied).  It is recommended that in most installations a double pole isolator switch should be incorporated in the fixed wiring.

According to figures from the Energy Saving Trust, the UK could collectively save nearly £4.4 billion on energy bills if householders took three energy saving actions in the home.

These are:

  • Turn it off – Make sure you turn your lights, appliances and chargers off when you’re not using them. Virtually all electrical and electronic appliances can safely be turned off at the plug without upsetting their systems.
  • Turn it down – Many households have their central heating set higher than they need, without even realising it. If it’s too warm inside, try turning your room thermostat down by one degree and see if you are still at a comfortable temperature. Every degree that you turn it down will make additional savings to your heating bill.
  • Let there be light – Households can now get LED spotlights that are bright enough to replace halogens, as well as regular energy saving bulbs (‘compact fluorescent lamps’ or CFLs) for pretty much everything else. They come in a variety of shapes, sizes and fittings and can save households money on their energy bills.
