Hager has signed up to the trading standards initiative called the Home Authority Principle (HAP).
The scheme is run by the Local Authority Co-ordinating body on Regulatory Services (LACORS) and encourages compliance through consultation rather than confrontation. Businesses are encouraged to be proactive about compliance and to liaise with their local Trading Standards Service on issues that include product safety and trade descriptions.
Whilst a local authority continues the surveillance of products placed on the market there is an onus on both the manufacturer and the enforcement authority to communicate on issues that affect UK compliance.
The Home Authority Principle is seen as an aid to good enforcement practice to protect the consumer and encourage fair trading and consistency.
Comments Hager’s Technical Standards Manager Paul Sayer: “It is more important than ever that reputable manufacturers underline their commitment to safety. For safety critical products, such as those used for electrical installations, this is particularly the case.”
