As outdoor living spaces become increasingly integral to residential and commercial properties, the demand for durable, functional, and stylish electrical accessories has grown. From powering outdoor entertainment areas, office spaces, sheds and hot tubs, to ensuring safety with adequate lighting, selecting the right electrical accessories is critical for both performance and longevity.

As with all electrical installation designs, it is important that the installer takes due account of a range of factors, including amongst other things, nature of demand, environmental conditions, type of wiring and method of installation. Where equipment is installed outside, there are particular factors to consider including variations in temperature and humidity, ingress of moisture, effects of radiation (direct sunlight) and vibration.
Any equipment selected for installation must be capable of safe operation for the highest and lowest ambient temperature likely to be encountered. In the UK this can range from temperatures as low as -15 °C up to highs of +40 °C. Where there is the presence of water and high humidity careful consideration must be given to the IP rating of the equipment.
The extensive Click Scolmore wiring accessories portfolio includes the Aquip66 range of IP66 rated weatherproof outdoor switches and socket outlets, which is ideal for this environment.
Watertight solution
Power can be brought safely to the outdoors, with Click Scolmore’s Aquip66 range of IP66-rated, easy-to-install 10A and 20A weatherproof outdoor switches and sockets.
The IP66-rated weatherproof socket and switch enclosures offer users a single fix installation - with the whole of the back box fixing to the wall to accommodate the socket or modules. Multiple knock-outs on each side (20mm) allow for entry from all angles, and a flexible rubber base with rear entry gasket provides extra weatherproof protection, as well as allowing for mounting on most types of uneven surfaces.
The Aquip66 weatherproof sockets come as completely sealed units to offer a high level of protection against ingress of water jets and dust. The range includes one and two gang switch enclosures which utilise MiniGrid single width switch modules which are rated at 10A, as well as one and two gang switches that utilise the GridPro range of modules and offer 20A switching options. A 13A switched fused connection unit is also available with a semi-transparent cover with neon power indicator, as well as with a standard cover.
The IP66 rated range is available in an anthracite grey finish. The polycarbonate construction makes this a durable and long lasting, heavy-duty range. All switch products are of modular construction allowing the installer total flexibility in designing customised switching solutions according to on-site requirements.

Use the mounting base to mark against the wall and chase out approx. 173 x 145 x 42mm from the brick work.
-
With the mains power off, pull through the mains cable. Then insert wall plugs, screw the mount and seal into position.
-
Ensure the mounting base is securely screwed to the wall with the silicone rubber seal and clip the outer bezel onto the fitting.
-
Wire up, insert and secure the Aquip66 Weatherproof Socket into the Recessed Mounting Kit.
