The Electrical Industries Charity (EIC) is marking Mental Health Awareness Week and National Walking Month with a group walking challenge to hit a collective ten million steps in the month of May.
This year’s Mental Health Awareness Month theme is “Action”. It focuses on taking action to improve mental health for ourselves, others, and society. Hosted by the Mental Health Foundation, it aims to drive practical change in communities and workplaces.
To embody this year’s theme of action, the Electrical Industries Charity is encouraging our electrical and energy community to help us achieve a shared goal of ten million steps this May. Fresh air and exercise can do wonders for your mental health, making this team challenge a great way to stay active and boost your wellbeing while connecting with others and being part of a supportive community.
How to take part:
To join the EIC’s Big Walking Challenge, download the StepUp app for free from the App Store or Google Play, and join the EIC’s team using the following link:

Once you’ve joined the team, open the app each day to track your steps. The app automatically syncs with your smartphone or watch’s built-in pedometer (such as Apple Health, Samsung Health and similar), so there’s no need to log walks manually. Just get walking - and make sure you take your device with you!
Mental Health Awareness Week runs from Monday 11 to Sunday 17 May. Get outside, get moving, and help the EIC raise awareness for Mental Health this May.
