Question: What BS should be referred to for power supply connection to fire pump rules in the UK?
Also, what are those special rules?
Note that the standard for the installation of stationary pumps for fire protection (NFPA 20 - www.nfpa.org) provides some special rules for this connection. Do we have the same for BS in the UK?
Answer: BS 8519:2010 - 'Selection and installation of fire-resistant power and control cable systems for life safety and fire-fighting applications Code of Practice' - deals with power supply cables to fire pumps.
Detailed information is available concerning the differing options in this standard.
