Building Regulations Approved Document P covers the technical guidance contained in Part P of schedule 1 of the Building Regulations. It covers the requirements with respect to electrical safety, and can be downloaded here as a 50-page DPF document:
Approved Document P - P1 - Design and Installation of Electrical Installations - came into effect in April 2006. It provides official technical guidance into all aspects of electrical safety for electrical installations in, or attached to, buildings or parts of buildings comprising dwelling houses and flats, dwellings and businesses that have a common supply, common access areas in blocks of flats (eg: stairwells) and shared amenities in blocks of flats.
