Wylex have added another consumer unit range to its existing market leading NM range. The new products, NMX, utilise a deep drawn metalwork process that provides a seamless enclosure assembly. With its smooth lines & soft curves NMX looks very attractive, and very much like a plastic enclosure but it’s enclosure is made entirely from steel so that it fully meets the requirements for non combustible enclosures that are prescribed within Amendment 3 of the wiring regulations.
NMX is designed for applications where aesthetics is important. For example, if the consumer unit is mounted on show in the building or if it’s at a height where sharp corners may cause a problem, and specifically for customers that put aesthetics high up the choice criteria list.
Cable entry can be fully allocated through the rear of the enclosure so that there are no glands or grommets or cables on show, there are plain sided versions that maintain the smooth appearance and remain free from “witness lines” associated with cable entry Knockouts, this not only maintains the aesthetic but helps maintain the IP rating too.
The range incorporates a new busbar system and pan assembly design that allows the benefits of a fixed busbar system i.e. a no miss terminal arrangement, to be combined with the ability for on site configuration of a flexible busbar system. This design can cater for several variations in configuration and then becomes fixed at the point of busbar installation to the pan assembly. Devices, MCBs and RCBOs are securely held in place by a full DIN rail arrangement.
There are four models; Main switch, generally for use with RCBOs to provide independent 30mA protection on every circuit. Split Load which can be configured with a mix of independent circuits on 30mA RCBOs and the balance of circuits grouped on one 30mA RCD fed busbar. High Integrity which allows for a small number of 30mA RCBOs and provides two RCD protected sections for MCBs, or Dual RCD that provides two 30mA protected groups of circuits.
